Margaret was interested in whether playing video games effected personality. From a large number of young adolescents she recrui

ted two groups for her study: those who played video games a lot (more than two hours daily) and those who played only a little (not more than once or twice per week). She then administered a personality test to both groups. She found the personality scores of the youth in the high-frequency video game playing group to be significantly different from the scores of the low-frequency video playing group. Margaret concluded that the frequency of playing video games causes variation in personality. How does Margaret's design either support or fail to support her conclusion? Be specific.

Answer:

Applying the scientific method by having two control groups.

Step-by-step explanation:

Margaret´s design supports its conclusion because she applied the scientific method.

Margaret had two control groups: the ones that play videogames only a little and the ones who play a longer time.

She tested both groups and made an estadistic manner to show the results.

By this way she supported her conclusion.

If something she did wrong id that she didn´t had an hipothesis to base of.

If f(x)= 2x^2 -4x and g(x) = 5 – 2x, evaluate f(x) – g(x) for x = 5
Orlov [11]
<span>If f(x)= 2x^2 -4x and g(x) = 5 – 2x, evaluate f(x) – g(x) for x = 5

you first plug in 5 for x in both equations...
(2(5)^2-4(5))=f(x)
5-2(5)=g(x)

now you evaluate...
(2(25)-20)-5-10
50-30-15
20-15=5

FIFTY POINTS - It took 4 hours for a biker to travel from one city to another going at a certain speed. On the return trip, the
Crazy boy [7]

Answer:

Either 200 km or 160 km.

Step-by-step explanation:

Distance = speed × time

Let x = the biker's normal speed

Then

(1) d = 4x

For the return trip,

Time = distance/speed

(2)                 4.5 = 100/x + (d -100)/(x - 10)

                    4.5x = 100/x + (4x -100)/(x - 10)     Substituted (1) into (2)

                    4.5x = 100 + x(4x -100)/(x - 10)      Multiplied each side by x

          4.5x(x - 10) = 100(x - 10) + x(4x -100)      Multiplied each side by (x - 10)

          4.5x² - 45x = 100x - 1000 + 4x² -100x   Removed parentheses

          4.5x² - 45x = -1000 + 4x²                       Cancelled terms

          0.5x² - 45x = -1000     Subtracted 4x² from each side

0.5x² - 45x +1000 = 0            Added 1000 to each side

    x² - 90x +2000 = 0           Multiplied each side by 2

    (x - 50)(x - 40) = 0             Factored the quadratic

x - 50 = 0     x - 40 = 0          Applied zero product theorem

      x = 50          x = 40

Substitute in (1)

d = 4 × 50 = 200 km; d = 4  × 40 = 160 km

The distance between the two cities is either 200 km or 160 km.

Check:

   x = 50                                                    x = 40

4.5 = 100/50 + (200 - 100)/(50 - 10)     4.5 = 100/40 + (160 - 100)/(40 - 10)

4.5 = 2  + 100/40                                  4.5 = 2.5 + 60 /30

4.5 = 2 + 2.5                                         4.5 = 2.5 + 2

4.5 = 4.5                                               4.5 = 4.5

Simplify this ratio: 18:3
xenn [34]

18 : 3 = 6 : 1

Solution:

Try to reduce the ratio further with the greatest common factor (GCF).

The GCF of 18 and 3 is 3

Divide both terms by the GCF, 3:

18 ÷ 3 = 6

3 ÷ 3 = 1

The ratio 18 : 3 can be reduced to lowest terms by dividing both terms by the GCF = 3 :

18 : 3 = 6 : 1

Therefore:

18 : 3 = 6 : 1
