Beowulf is an Anglo-Saxon epic poem with setting (Scandinavia) around 500 A.D. It is not very clear when it was composed, but it is believed that it was around 1.000 A.D. The language used was Old English , which consisted of several West Germanic dialects, and it lasted until the Norman conquest , in 1.066 AD, when the phase of the Middle-English started.
