why do writers use transitional words, phrases, and clauses in a narrative A. they help bring the reader into the story B. they
Inessa [10]

Answer:

The correct answer is: C. they help the reader make connections between ideas.

Explanation:

Transitional words, phrases and clauses are used to connect other words, phrases and clauses (generally, ideas).<u> They help the reader to make a connection between ideas and they make the narrative logic and understandable. </u>

There are many types of transitional words. Some of them are:

contrast: however

example: for instance

addition: not to mention

similarity: likewise

etc.

All the other options (A, B, D) are correct, but they are just part of the response C. Transitional words do introduce the story, do help make good conclusions and do clarify the things, but all these are IDEAS that need to be connected and explained.

You are preparing a speech to present to parents about college planning. Your audience consists of ninth-grade parents. When wri
Novay_Z [31]

Answer:

Explanation:

I can't help but laugh at one of the given sentences. Read over the sentence that says "<em>Your audience consists of 9th grade parents." </em> That means that if the parents are in Grade 10, they  can't attend the meeting.

That, of course, is not what you want to hear.

You should be aiming your speech at parents who have children in Grade Nine. You might want to focus on things that they should be preparing for in advance.

  • What is the student planing on taking and is that a realistic objective. He or she should not be planning to spend 7 years in college for a medical degree if he or she only has a C+ average. Suppose we are, however, talking about a very gifted student. A parent should be planning to put aside 100000 dollars -- maybe more. The parent has at most 4 years to complete the task. That's a worry.
  • You should be talking to them about how determined the child is. A bright student with an average report card is something to look into. Is the student mature enough to go to college or are they going to do nothing but party.
  • You should be talking considering the other children in the family if there are any. Planning for a doctor is going to eat up most family's resources. Is it a fair choice for the rest of the family?
  • You should be talking about the choice in schools. It matters (in the United States) from which college a person graduates. That's some of the topics.
