The following diagram demonstrates the flow of water when a cell is placed in different aqueous solutions. Review the labels at

the top of each picture. If a marine plant is placed in a salt water aquarium, predict the flow of water and salt into/out of the plant's cells. A) Both the water and the salt will move into the plant cells. The cells will swell. B) Because the solution is isotonic, there will be no net movement of either water or salt. C) The salt will move into the cells; the water will move out and the plant cells will undergo plasmolysis. D) Because the solution is isotonic, only the salt will move into the plant cells. There will be no net movement of water.

Compare marshes, swamps, and bogs.
stira [4]
Marshes, swamps, and bogs are all types of wetlands. This means that their soil can be saturated either permanently or seasonally. As wetlands, they are all characterized by high levels of biodiversity. Swamps tend to have a larger proportion of surface water than marshes and, in North America, are characterized by the presence of trees. Bogs have acidic groundwater as a result of their surface water resulting mainly from precipitation

What are the five main phases of the cell cycle? What are the main events in each?
saveliy_v [14]

Answer:

In the adult organism, mitosis plays a role in cell replacement, wound healing and tumour formation. Mitosis, although a continuous process, is conventionally divided into five stages: prophase, prometaphase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase.

Cell cycle has different stages called G1, S, G2, and M. G1 is the stage where the cell is preparing to divide. To do this, it then moves into the S phase where the cell copies all the DNA.

What evolutionary mechanisms might account for the origin and persistence of cell-to-cell signaling in unicellular prokaryotes?
Paha777 [63]
<span>The concept of cell signaling is a communication network that is responsible for majority of the cellular activities. It is important that if the cell is deprived of this ability it will soon die. Since a cell is able to correctly interact with it's environment and perceive it,  they are able to repair tissues, develop, and become immune to normal tissue homeostasis.

Which lipid has the greatest influence on blood cholesterol levels?
SSSSS [86.1K]

Answer;

-Saturated fats

Explanation;

-Cholesterol is transported in the blood by different carriers. The relative amounts of cholesterol transported by each carrier can affect one’s risk for heart disease. The two major blood cholesterol carriers are LDL (low density lipoprotein) and HDL (high density lipoprotein).

-LDL cholesterol is known as “bad” blood cholesterol, and functions to deliver cholesterol to cells throughout the body and can be deposited as “plaque” on artery walls.

-Dietary fat, especially saturated and trans fats, may raise blood levels of total and LDL cholesterol. High total blood cholesterol levels and LDL cholesterol levels increase risk of heart disease.
