So we know this is a geometric sequence, meaning it has a multiplier, or a "common ratio".

now, we get the next term's value by simply multiplying the current term's value by the common ratio, so if we just divide any of the terms by the term before it, the quotient will just be the common ratio.

18/6 is just 3, so there you have it, and we know the first term is 2/3.

\bf n^{th}\textit{ term of a geometric sequence}\\\\
a_n=a_1\cdot r^{n-1}\qquad
\begin{cases}
n=n^{th}\ term\\
a_1=\textit{first term's value}\\
r=\textit{common ratio}\\
----------\\
r=3\\
a_1=\frac{2}{3}
\end{cases}\implies a_n=\cfrac{2}{3}\cdot 3^{n-1}

if the remainder on division of x^3+2x^2+kx+3 by x-3 is 21,find the quotient and the value of k. Hence,find the zeroes of the cu
maxonik [38]
Let p(x)=x^3+2x^2+kx+3
On dividing p(x) by x-3, the remainder is 21. Therefore,
 P(3)=21
 Substituting x=3 in p(x)
 P(3)=3^3 +2*(3)^2+k*3+3
  =27+18+3k+3
  =48+3k
 We know that, p(3)=21.
 So, 48+3k=21
  3k=21-48
  3k=-27
  k=-27/3 =-9
 now, p(x) =x^3+2x^2-9x-18
 -2 is a factor of p(x) on inspection. Therefore, divide p(x) by x+2 to find the
zeroes of the polynomial.
 On dividing, we get the factors to be, (x^2-9)(x+2)
 (x^2-3^2)(x+2)
 Factorizing using the identity a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b) we get,
 (x+3)(x-3)(x+2)
 Therefore, the zeroes of the polynomials are -3,+3 and -2.

Two trains start from Fort Worth traveling at the same speed. The trip for Train W takes 20 hours, while the trip for Train Z ta
MrMuchimi

Answer:

The equation that best models this situation is :

b. \frac{x}{20}=\frac{x+400}{25}

Distance traveled by Train W = 1600 miles

Distance traveled by Train Z = 2,000 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Time taken for Train W to complete a trip = 20 hours

Time taken for Train Z to complete a trip = 25 hours

The city Train Z is traveling to is 400 miles farther away than the city Train W is traveling to.

both trains have same speeds and start from same location.

To find the distance in total each train travels.

Solution:

<em>Let length of the trip of Train W be </em>= x miles

Speed of Train W can be given as :

⇒ \frac{Distance}{Time}

⇒ \frac{x}{20}\ miles/h

<em>So, the length of the trip of Train Z will be</em> = (x+400) miles

Speed of Train Z can be given as :

⇒ \frac{Distance}{Time}

⇒ \frac{x+400}{25}\ miles/h

Since the speeds are same, so the equation to find x can be given as:

⇒ \frac{x}{20}=\frac{x+400}{25}

Solving for x

Multiplying both sides by 100 to remove fractions.

⇒ 100\times \frac{x}{20}=100\times \frac{x+400}{25}

⇒ 5x=4(x+400)

Using distribution.

⇒ 5x=4x+1600

Subtracting both sides by 4x

⇒ 5x-4x=4x-4x+1600

⇒ x=1600

Thus, Distance traveled by Train W = 1600 miles

Distance traveled by Train Z = 1600+400 = 2,000 miles

A football team has a probability of 0.76 of winning when playing any of the other four teams in its conference. If the games ar
Deffense [45]

Answer:

0.33362176

Step-by-step explanation:

Probability is the ratio of the number of possible outcomes to the number of total outcomes.

Given that a football team has a probability of 0.76 of winning when playing any of the other four teams in its conference, the probability that the team wins all its conference games

= 0.76 * 0.76 * 0.76 * 0.76

= 0.33362176

This is the probability that the teams wins the 4 matches played against the other teams in the conference.
