Which ideology did metternich condemn

History

Metternich condemned both nationalism and liberalism as ideologies that threatened the status quo.

Prince Klemens von Metternich of Austria was the leading figure in the conservative domination of the period from 1815 to 1848. The Austrian Empire was made up of many different people groups, so nationalism was a threat to its existence. If Hungarians and Czechs and other groups within that empire each wanted to form their own independent nation, that would have meant the end to the Austrian Empire. And liberalism was the ideology of change that Metternich and others had seen threatening all of Europe through the ideas of the French Revolution. 19th century conservatives wanted to put down all such revolutionary change movements and keep the old order in place, with traditional, aristocratic institutions and values.

Why would rulers have felt less fear of hell than their subjects felt?
Romashka-Z-Leto [24]
The rulers all thought they were Gods, and were immortal. The subjects however knew they were not immortal, and everything they did wrong would be counted against them when they died and their God would see if their heart was heavy or not.

1. What were the 3 main reasons (motivations) European explorers had to make ocean voyages in the late 1400 & early 1500s?
spayn [35]
1. Reasons include finding an alternative route to Asia, seeking land to conquer and claim, and to spread the message of christianity.

2. Major reason was to find Gold. They also wanted to start a colony and teach Christianity to native Americans.

3. Spain explored and colonized the American Southwest in order to gain land and spread christianity to native americans.
The mission system required that Indians brought into a mission be baptized into the faith and "civilized." This was considered another big plus supporting the use missions as the central element in colonization.
The Spanish built several pueblos (towns), the largest of which became Los Angeles.

4. Native American's died from diseases the Spanish brought over and the spanish seized gold, made them [the natives] pan for more gold. and forced them to convert to christianity.
**Basically, the conquistadors treated them horribly, forcing them to pan for gold and convert to christianity. In the end, tons died from diseases they had never been exposed to.

5. The Northwest Passage was a sea trade route that connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans through the Canadian Arctic Archipelago.

6. France's goals in North America was to get involved in the rich fur trade and to spread Catholicism. The French constantly sent traders to trade with Native Americans and priests to talk to them as well.

7. Compared to the other Europeans in the colonies, France treated the Native Americans fairly well. The French treated the Native Americans better, trading with them and working with them in more equal relationships; this was due to the fact that not many French settled in the New World and that those that did were often single men who sought to profit rather than to settle down. The Spanish, on the other hand, sought riches and conversions more forcibly and on a larger scale than the French; this would lead to much mistreatment of native peoples

I hope this helps!
