Answer:

Medusa was one of the Gorgons, a priestess of Athena who was defiled by the god Poseidon and because of this Act which broke her oath of celibacy, as punishment, her head was covered with snakes and whoever looks at her would turn to stone.

Perseus was tasked with killing and decapitation Medusa and it was an almost impossible task because whoever set eyes on Medusa was turned to stone and he couldn't kill who he cannot set his eyes on.

Therefore he enlisted the help of Athena and Hermes who gave him magical sandals which could fly, an invisibility cloak, a sword and a mirrored shield which was instrumental in killing Medusa and decapitating her.

Perseus found her in her cave as she was sleeping and with the help of the mirrored shield, beheaded her. He was chased by her two sisters but managed to escape their fury with the gifts Athena and Hermes gave to him

garik1379 [7]

After reading the excerpt from the play "Trifles", we can say that it contributes most to the following feminist theme:

C. Women are often expected to conform to roles set by society.

Themes in "Trifles":

 • Although most of the options presented in the question do have themes developed in the play, we must choose the one that better fits the excerpt we are analyzing here.
 • In the excerpt, the country attorney is criticizing Mrs. Wright for being a bad housekeeper. He expects a woman to take care of her home impeccably. Dirty towels are simply unacceptable.
 • The country attorney does not take into consideration that the woman may not have wanted this life for herself. That maybe she had other dreams and wishes. Or simply, that her life may have been so miserable that she did not feel like doing chores.
 • All that matters to him is that she does the duties that are expected from her. If she does not, it means she is worthless.

With the information above in mind, we can choose letter C as the best option for this particular excerpt.
