History

John Locke.

One of the key phrases in the Declaration “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” was from Locke’s Two Treatises of Government. Locke developed the idea that all mankind is created equally and that our fundamental human rights (for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness) should never be taken by the government.

The original writers of the Declaration of Independence, namely Jefferson, took inspiration and included some of Locke’s ideas.

Eliezer and his father are told to lie about their ages. why?
alex41 [277]

Remember that Eliezer and his father were sent off to Auschwitz, which as commonly known today is a death camp. To determine whether they go to Auschwitz or Birkenau (the labor camp next to Auschwitz), they were asked for some of the following things:

1) Age

2) Occupancy

3) Health condition

4) (i believe there might be more) etc.

Each of these determine if they can work, and depending on what they answer, they were either sent directly to the death camp, or were sent to the labor camp.

Now, to answer the question, they were told to lie about their ages so that they would have a higher survivability rate.

hope this helps

How did enlightenment principles affect American independence and<br>government?
pashok25 [27]

Answer:

In turn, the Enlightenment ideals of liberty, equality, and justice helped to create the conditions for the American Revolution and the subsequent Constitution. Democracy was not created in a heartbeat. In a world where people were ruled by monarchs from above, the idea of self-government is entirely alien.
