Every kind of criticism is a sociological strategy. Marxist criticism, Feminist criticism, Formalist strategy, and Deconstructionist strategy are all critical approaches/perspectives/theories/strategies. All of them have different settings, background roots, aims, and methodologies, although the only common aspect among them all is the fact that criticism is a strategy for their sociological purpose. It is not important here to highlight which is best or correct as a sociological strategy, it is necessary only to highlight that each one has its own importance during the course of time and history.
Feminist criticism, Marxist critique and deconstructionist strategy are schools of thought, which seek to analyze and describe the ways in which literature portrays the narrative of society through economic, social, political and psychological explorations inserted within literature. For this reason these terms can be considered sociological strategies. On the other hand, formalist strategy is a term that describes an emphasis of form on content or meaning in the arts, literature, religion, law, philosophy, and mathematics. In this way the formalist strategy is not considered a sociological strategy.
