Answer:

The answer to the question: In which of these three lists does Roosevelt effectively use repetition, would be: D: Only in 2.

Explanation:

Repetition is a literary technique that is often used by orators, and writers, in order to stress on the importance of one idea, one that he/she needs the public to retain in their memories. In order to achieve this, the writer, or orator, essentially repeats either a word, a group of words, or a sound, that are the same always, without many variations. In this case, the 2nd list  offers such a thing when Roosevelt begins all the three sentences from the list in exactly the same way: "We should..." These two words stress on the ideas and since they are the same, it is the perfect example of the use of the technique of repetition.

I think the answer is D. Only the second paragraph repeats the term "We should."

Deffense [45]

This quote suggests that overwhelming feelings are the most dangerous ones. This is because of the sudden urges that one cannot simply ignore. These “violet delights” are usually the ones that we cannot stop ourselves from having – the taste of first love, the whim of the heart – simply because it is human nature. The violent ends are the sudden ends upon which we tumble upon, especially after a passionate episode of these urges end. It is not the end that is bitter, but the feeling of its sudden disappearance – the lack of the feeling, rather than the feeling itself.

Doss [256]

Answer:

C - A metaphor

Explanation:

This is because metaphor means "a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable."

This helps support that this figurative language is not literally applicable to reality showing it is a metaphor.
