The Canby’s dropwort grows in wetlands in Georgia. It is an endangered plant because wetlands have been cleared for agriculture

and construction. The larvae of the black swallowtail butterfly eat this plant. What would MOST LIKELY happen to the black swallowtail butterfly if these plants continue to decrease

Answer

The population of black swallowtail butterfly will decrease when the Canby’s dropwort plants coverage decreases

Explanation

The larvae of the black swallowtail butterfly thrive well when there is enough numbers of Canby’s dropwort because the larva feeds on the plant. A decrease in Canby’s dropwort plant due to clearance for agriculture and construction will reduce the number/coverage of the Canby’s dropwort which will directly reduce the number of black swallowtail butterfly because their larvae feed on the plant for survival.

Their population will either decrease or they will be forced to migrate. They may also undergo adaptive radiation to adapt to new food sources or environments.

Natural selection refers to the phenomenon by which the species in a population possessing the tendency to get adapted in a condition enhance in numbers in comparison to those who exhibit fewer adaptation capacities over a number of generations.

In other words, it can be stated as the non-random and differential development of distinct genotypes function to sustain favorable variant and to eradicate less favorable variants. Some of the conditions are required for the process of natural selection to take place.

These are heredity, reproduction, variation in individual characters, and variation in the fitness of organisms among the members of the population. If the conditions are met, then the phenomenon of natural selection occurs by default.

Consider the classification levels of a honey bee.
frez [133]

Answer:

Insecta

Explanation:

The classification levels are the following from broadest to the most specific:

Domain

Kingdom

Phylum

Class

Order

Family

Genus

Species

In your selection it is listed in that order:

Domain   --- Eukarya

Kingdom --- Animalia

Phylum  --- Arthropoda

Class     --- Insecta

Order    --- Hymenoptera

Family   --- Apidae

Genus   --- Apis

Species --- Mellifera

When you name the organism, we use the two name or binary naming system, getting the genus and the species. So the scientific name of the honey bee is: Apis mellifera
