A court is an uncovered space inside of a building, usually considered a common space in popular architecture of the Mediterranean Basin. It can be sorrounded by walls which separate it from other courts in the sorrounding areas or the street, and can also be sorrounded by the remaining rooms of the same building.
In any case, it will be a roofless area, sometimes covered with porches, interior galleries with columns, beams, or arcades in order to hold the partial roof.
