Maddyline checked her phone, after spotting the time she practically launced herself from her chair with glee and began sprinting towards the front door. Today was family game night Maddyline thought. Once her family members had arrived, ate dinner, and sat themselves at the table it was about time they started playing! Since John, her brother was at adventure camp and couldn't cheat like usual, it was fair play. Maddyline was exscatic the entire night because she had finally won the game of life, without her cheating brother interfering.

I hope this is what you meant, lol.

Which of the following sentences demonstrates the proper use of a colon?
Ostrovityanka [42]
The answer is B because "I have visited many cities including the following" indicates that there is going to be a list of cities. A colon is used to introduce a series of items or to separate two independent clauses; however the second sentence has to add on to the first.

sineoko [7]

Answer:

D) Testing has shown that teenage boys between the ages of 15-18 sleep longer than teenage girls in the same age group.

Explanation:

The best way to revise this sentence is given in option D.

Option A lacks all necessary details, simply stating that males sleep longer than females. The research/testing, children's age, and the hours are not mentioned.

Option B feels like the second best, but a very important piece of information is missing - the specific age. Teenagers are children aged 13-19, and the difference between 13- and 19-year-olds is huge.

Option C also lacks information about the subjects' age.

Option D is also not ideal but feels the most complete. It doesn't mention how much longer exactly the boys sleep, but that detail isn't as important as the specific age is.
