Answer:

The government of the USA, that is, those who rule, do it by the consent of those ruled. This is the key idea of the social contract. The people, the nation´s sovereign , express their consent by voting for those who are in power, for those who represent them. This is today´s expression of John Locke´s idea.

Imagine you are in control of the Tardis. Your task is to go back in time and make sure that Britain keeps one of the colonies
yan [13]
Go back to North America. Give the colonists some representation in Parliament and a little more ‘freedom’ to rule and re-write laws and economic policies (taxes). This would have appeased some of the revolutionary leaders and most of the common people. This may have led to a diplomatic, not militaristic, resolution to the grievances of the colonies that were eventually written in the Dec. of Indep.

How did a new sense of identify in the American colonists help lead to revolution?
emmainna [20.7K]

The new sense of identity in the American colonist helped lead to revolution because:

B. They viewed themselves as individuals of their states (Virginians, Rhode Islanders….etc.) that had self-governed for so long that King George’s taxes were infringing on their rights.

With a new sense of identity not liked to the British Royalty, it lead to a revolution for independence.
