Either way, he attacked Delhi 17 times and was defeated by the then Chauhan ruler of Delhi I,e, Prithviraj Chauhan. But Chauhan got defeated the 17th time and Ghori seized Delhi after that. This battle between the kings Muhammad Ghori and Prithviraj Chauhan came to be known as the battle of Terain.
