How did the South keep railroad construction costs down?

History

Answer:

ThecCorrect answer is the second statement: It used prison labor and lobbied the federal government.

Explanation:

It would take much time for the South to end its racist practices even after the Civil War (1861-1865) and the Reconstruction era (1865-1877).

One of the many racist practices that persisted in the South was the use of prison labor to build railroads. They took advantage of how the 13th Amendment abolished slavery except as a punishment for a crime and used this to keep using a type of labor they had complete control over. The vast majority of this prison labor was African-American.

After the Civil War, the federal government and Reconstruction state governments offered financial aid to create a "new South". Building railroads was seen as necessary to industrialize the region.

What did the Cretans trade with Egyptians
Vilka [71]
Besides timber Crete exported food, cypress wood, wine, currants, olive oil, wool, cloth, herbs, and purple dye. Its imports consisted of precious stones, copper (most likely from Cyprus), ivory, silver, gold, and other raw material. They also imported tin that was used in the production of bronze alloys. Interestingly, the nearest known tin mines appear as far as Spain, Britain, central Europe, and Iran. Besides raw materials, the Minoans also adopted from the surrounding cultures artistic ideas and techniques as evident in Egypt's influence on the Minoan wall frescoes, and on goldsmithing production knowledge imported by Syria.

Congress sets a record of overturning his presidential vetoes 15 times during his presidency
Eva8 [605]
The president who had his veto overridden 15 times was Andrew Johnson. Andrew Johnson was the person that took over after President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. He was extremely unpopular due to his Reconstruction policies and his breaking of the law. Johnson was just one vote away from being removed from office due to his breaking of the Tenure of Office Act.
