They enslaved them and made them work on haciendas. Because the Spanish made them work so hard many died from exhaustion and being treated badly. Another reason they stopped being friendly to the Spanish was because the Spanish promised to teach them there religion, Christianity but got greedy and didn't. Because a lot of them died the Spanish them enslaved Africans.
