The answer is D because the proper sentence would be; With a squeal and a giggle, the wave came in, and the boy GOT soaked. Became soaked, would mean that he got soaked in the PAST tense, and he just randomly became soaked. So yes, as you assumed, the answer is D

The ending would a little heartbreaking, I️ think :( If the Prince had decided that it wasn’t worth all the hassle to chase down the girl who walked on glass just to dance with him, Cinderella would have ended up remaining enslaved to her step-family, would more then likely never get the chance to find true love again, and the Prince would’ve ended up marrying some Princess or other royal that his father, the king, arranged. Which would mean the Prince never found his own true love, Cinderella.
