Answer:

Americas and European writers write about things and events that are going on in their country. You may see that they are writing in the country they live in by their settings that they have described. American writers will most likely write their stories about slavery, wars, and politics, that were going on at the time. Such as "The Destructors" containing gangs and the destruction of a house, that was the only standing house in a bombing area. Europeans will most likely have religion in theirs. Such as the "First Confession" containing the priest and the boys honest in his first communion.

hope it helps

Henry James was the first writer to mention the difference in a greater extent. According to his writings, American style writing is rich with moral innosence, spontaneity, sincerity, honesty, naturality respectively versus European moral experience, rituality, dishonesty and artificiality. The qualities cannot be seen exactly in every European or American novel, however the qualities boil down to the final virtue in the form of honesty vs evil.

American writers, like Edgar Allan Poe, use more detail in there writing and have stories to there writings. While, European writers use different details then American writers would use. I hope you are satisfied with my answer and feel free to ask for more

Vesna [10]
It is important to know the author's purpose because knowing the author's purpose can change how the story is being told. If someone said,"Mom, I would really like this new video game for my birthday." and the author's purpose was to inform, it would be informing the mom that the person wanted the video game. If the author's purpose was to persuade, that person would be persuading the mom to get him the video game.
