Answer:

Width = 9 inches , length = 12 inches.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the width = x inches, then its length x+3 inches.

Perimeter = 2x + 2(x + 3) inches so

2x + 2(x + 3) = 42

4x + 6 = 42

4x = 36

x = 36/4 = 9

So the width is 9 in and length = 9 + 3 = 12 inches.

You are correct.

IgorLugansk [536]
Let's assign some random values to it, and say 1 unit of petroleum costs 100 bitcoins, because we all know bitcoins are the best currency :P

If the price goes up by 10%, it is now 100*1.1 = 110bitcoins for 1 unit.

However he's only getting 0.9 units now, so multiplying 110 by 0.9 gives us 99 bitcoins. His petroleum bill used to be 100 (which is why I picked 100 as it's easier), and now it is 99. Therefore his petroleum bill has reduced by 1%

Line segments JK and JL in the xy-coordinate plane both have a common endpoint J(-4,11) and midpoints at M, (2, 16) and M2 (-3,5
ohaa [14]

Answer:

12.1

Step-by-step explanation:

We use the formula for the distance between two arbitrary points (x_1,y_1) and (x_2,y_2) in the xy-coordinate plane, that is:

d=\sqrt{(x_1-x_2)^2 + (y_1-y_2)^2}

So, replacing the points M=(2,16) and M_2=(-3,5), we obtain:

d=\sqrt{(2-(-3))^2 + (16-5)^2}\\d=\sqrt{(2+3)^2 + (16-5)^2}\\d=\sqrt{5^2 + 11^2}\\d=\sqrt{146 }=12.083045... \simeq 12.1

that is the answer.

note: observe that we only use the coordinates between the two midpoints and not the point J.
