Dramatic irony is term in literature works that describes a situation in which a character thinks one thing, while the reader or audience knows the reality of the situation, which is however, different.

Hence, when Rómeô and Jûliet bid each other good bye, the dramatic irony of this particular scene shows, as it lies around Rômeó and Júliet, and Lady and Lord Capulet.

Because, through the chorus, the audience know that Júliet is right, they will meet again; however, it will be in despair and sadness rather the loving sweet period.

Also, for first time reader, who does not know that Romeo will next be seen by Júliet directly in a tomb, this still can be perceived as predictable.

Furthermore, Lord and Lady Capulet are apparently thrilled with the combination of Paris and Júliet.  However, with, Júliet's parents plan for her to wed Paris on Thursday!  The audience is aware that, Júliet, is already married to Romeo.
