The number of surface flaws in plastic panels used in the interior of automobiles has a Poisson distribution with a mean of 0.05

flaw per square foot of plastic panel. Assume that an automobile interior contains 10 square feet of plastic panel.(a) What is the probability that there are no surface flaws in an auto's interior?(b) If 10 cars are sold to a rental company, what is the probability that none of the 10 cars has any surface flaws?

Answer:

(a) Probability that there are no surface flaws in an auto's interior is 0.6065 .

(b) If 10 cars are sold to a rental company, what is the probability that none of the 10 cars has any surface flaws is 0.00673 .

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that the number of surface flaws in plastic panels used in the interior of automobiles has a Poisson distribution with a mean of 0.05 flaws per square foot of plastic panel.

Let X = Distribution of number of surface flaws in plastic panels

So, X ~ Poisson(\lambda)

The mean of Poisson distribution is given by, E(X) = \lambda = 0.05

which means, X ~ Poisson(0.05)

The probability distribution function of a Poisson random variable is:

P(X=x)=\frac{e^{-\lambda}\lambda^{x}}{x!}; for  x=0,1,2,3...

Now, we know that \lambda for per square foot of plastic panel is 0.05 and we are given that an automobile interior contains 10 square feet of plastic panel.

Therefore,  for 10 square foot of plastic panel is = 10 * 0.05 = 0.5

(a) Probability that there are no surface flaws in an auto's interior =P(X=0)

    P(X = 0) = \frac{e^{-0.5}*0.5^{0}}{0!} = e^{-0.5} = 0.6065

(b) If 10 cars are sold to a rental company, what is the probability that none of the 10 cars has any surface flaws = P(X = 0)^{10}

    So, P(X = 0)^{10} = 0.6065^{10} = 0.00673

Answers: Angle A is 36 degrees, angle C is 54 degrees

=================================================================

Work Shown:

The angles A and C are complementary, meaning they add to 90 degrees.

(Angle A) + (Angle C) = 90

(2x-4) + (2x+14) = 90

(2x+2x)+(-4+14) = 90

4x+10 = 90

4x+10-10 = 90-10 .... subtract 10 from both sides

4x = 80

4x/4 = 80/4 ..... divide both sides by 4

x = 20

If x = 20, then,

angle A = 2x-4 = 2*20-4 = 40-4 = 36 degrees

angle C = 2x+14 = 2*20+14 = 40+14 = 54 degrees

Note how A+C = 36+54 = 90 which helps confirm our answers.

What is the most precise name for quadrilateral ABCD with vertices A(–5,2), B(–3, 5),C(4, 5),and D(2, 2)?
bonufazy [111]

Answer: ABCD is a parallelogram.

Step-by-step explanation:

First we plot these point on a graph as given in attachment.

From the attachment we can observe that AD || BC || x-axis .

also, AB ||CD, that will make ABCD a parallelogram ,  but to confirm we check the property of parallelogram "diagonals bisect each other" , i.e . "Mid point of both diagonals are equal".

Mid point of AC= (\dfrac{-5+4}{2},\dfrac{2+5}{2})=(\dfrac{-1}{2},\dfrac{7}{2})

Mid point of BD= (\dfrac{-3+2}{2},\dfrac{5+2}{2})=(\dfrac{-1}{2},\dfrac{7}{2})

Thus, Mid point of AC=Mid point of BD

i.e. diagonals bisect each other.

That means ABCD is a parallelogram.

A rectangle has a perimeter of 84 miles and a height of 26 miles .what is the length of the base?
ExtremeBDS [4]

Answer:

16 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

The height is 26 miles. Multiply that by 2 which gets 52 and then subtract that from 84. That gives you 32 which means the sum of the lengths is 32/2 which is 16 miles
