Who is credited with writing the first great Baroque opera?

Monteverdi is credited for writing the first grand opera in 1607 called L'Orfeo.

Are there choices? I finished this class a week ago, so i cant remember exactly, but I'm about 75% sure its  either Jacopo Peri or Claudio Monteverdi (I think it Peri for the most part)
