The largest artificial lake, Mavrovo Lake in Macedonia is part of Mavrovo National Park. Mavrovo Lake is situated in the Mavrovo region, in the Mavrovo and Rostuša municipality of the Republic of Macedonia. It less than 100 km from Skopje, the capital city of North Macedonia

Lake Mavrovo is used for recreational activities such as swimming, boating and fishing especially during the summer.

Lake Mavrovolies at an altitude of over 1,000 meters. The half submerged church is located in the middle of the lake.

Mavrovo National Park have deep canyons, snowy peaks and blue lakes combine with dense forests and it spreading over an area of about 300 square miles (780 km2). The Mavrovo National Park area contains many other interesting natural phenomena such as the highest waterfall in the Balkans with a vertical fall of approximately 400 feet
