The herpesviruses are very important enveloped DNA viruses that cause disease in all vertebrate species and in some invertebrate

s such as oysters. Some of the human ones are herpes simplex virus (HSV) types I and II, causing facial and genital lesions, and the varicella zoster virus (VSV), causing chicken pox and shingles. Each of these three actively infects nervous tissue. Primary infections are fairly mild, but the virus is not then cleared from the host; rather, viral genomes are maintained in cells in a latent phase. The virus can then reactivate, replicate again, and be infectious to others. In order to be able to remain latent in an infected live cell, HSV must be able to shut down what process?

Answer:

<u>HSV type 1:</u>"<u><em>It is a highly contagious infection, which is common and endemic throughout the world."</em></u>

The vast majority of HSV-1 infections are oral herpes, but a proportion of HSV-1 infections are genital herpes. HSV-1 can be transmitted from oral or skin surfaces that appear normal and when there are no symptoms present.

Explanation:

<u>Shutting down Primary Impulses in the organ or area: </u>

  • Primary infection, the virus replicates productively within mucosal epithelial cells and enters sensory neurons via nerve termini. The virus is then transported to neuronal cell bodies where latency can be established.
  • Neurotropic herpes-virus that establishes latency within sensory neurons
  • Neural circuits responsible for conscious self-control are highly vulnerable to even mild stress. When they shut down, primal impulses go unchecked and mental paralysis sets in

Answer: Hi.... I hope it helps!!

Skin Pigmentation in humans

Explanation: Polygenic inheritance- It is simply a single characteristic which is controlled by more than two genes. Human skin's color is determined by the amount of dark pigment it has which is melanin . Minimum four genes are involved in the melanin production.

It is a case of continuous variation as the combination of melanin producing allele are responsible for degree of pigmentation
