What was a goal of Henry cabot lodge's work as head of the US foreign affairs committee?
Paladinen [302]

Henry Cabot Lodge was a Republican and U.S Senator who was born in Boston in 1850 and died in 1924. Aside from his striking career as a Republican, and his prominent friendship with Theodore Roosevelt, Henry Cabot Lodge dedicated his life to his belief in the strength of America and its need to always be strong militarily and economically. He was also a strong believer in imperialism and the romantic idea of the prominent role of America on international affairs. He became a U.S Senator in 1893 and from that moment he became a spokesperson for these ideals, also shared by Theodore Roosevelt, among others. In 1912, with the election of Woodrow Wilson to the Presidency, Lodge rose as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and he dedicated himself to opposing Wilson on allowing the U.S to enter the League of Nations and did not wish for the ratification of the Treaty of Versailles. In fact, he always advocated for strong involvement from the U.S during World War I and believed in the establishment of peace but through power and force, rather than discussion and peaceful talks. He particularly opposed Article X from the league covenant as he believed it took away Congress´s power to declare war.

5. Synthesizing/Analyzing Visuals Why might the population density be low in
oksian1 [2.3K]

Answer:

THE LEAST POPULATED COUNTRY - AUSTRALIA

Australia has one of the lowest population densities in the world. With a low population of 23 million and a land area of over 7.6 million km² the density is about 3 people per km². This is very low compared to Monoco, the most densely populated area in the world with 26150 people per km².

Australia is rich in natural resources with large reserves of natural gas, oil, gold, uranium and metal ores. Uranium is important in the development of nuclear energy around the world. Australia attracts foreign workers to support the exploitation of these natural resources. Australia has the 9th highest immigrant population in the world with 6.7 million, making up 28.2% of its population.

Australia has more resources available than it uses, which means surplus resources can be exported. Our exports in 2017 were worth over $ 220 billion. This contributes to Australia's high per capita GDP of over $ 49,000 per person. The unemployment rate in Australia is very low.

With low birth and death rates, Australia’s natural increase is low. The provision of health care is excellent which contributes to the low infant mortality rate. Adult literacy is high at 99%.

Population densities are higher around the coast where the climate is more favorable. Moving inland the mainland became desert and semi -desert. Semi -desert areas can be developed for future population growth. However, water scarcity could limit population growth and development in the future.
