The Mayflower Compact was a set of rules for self-governance established by the English settlers who traveled to the New World on the Mayflower. When Pilgrims and settlers set out for America in 1620 they were driven off course by storms and landed in Massachusetts. knowing life without laws would be catastrophic the leaders created the Mayflower Compact to ensure social structure survives.
