History

The third westward surge was outlined by the Mississippi River and the Pacific Ocean.

Explanation:

When the British established their colonies in North America, they were all located on the East Coast. The people remained on the East Coast for quite some though and they were not migrating to the west. This started to gradually change, with the main reasons being that the safety issues started to get solved, and that the means of transportation improved.

The first and second westward surges didn't really went a lot to the west, but the people were relatively close to the East Coast, mostly settling between the Mississippi River and the Appalachian Mountains. The third westward surge though was on a much more larger scale and on a much larger territory, with people settling between the Mississippi River and the Pacific Ocean, or around two thirds of what is now the United States.

The people started to move in in this part because:

  • The conflicts with the Indian tribes were mostly solved
  • The government was granting large portions of land for very little money
  • The territory became American after the territory was conquered
  • Lot of opportunities opened up for the people

What relationship did the government have with religion in mesopotamia?
Rom4ik [11]

Religion played a decisive role in both governments of Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia.

In Ancient Egypt, the Pharaoh was believed to have descended from the realm of the Gods. His role was that of an intermediary between them and the people of the empire. His obligation was to sustain rituals for the gods in order to maintain an order in the universe. Massive amounts of resources were also assigned to the creation of temples where these rituals were held.

In Mesopotamia, the King was considered as a religious leader. He exercised the cult with the help of specialists whose task was to serve as an intermediary between men and the gods. These group of specialists included a "supervising" priest for purification against demons, priests for the purification of the temple, and priests for appeasing the anger of the gods and its subsequent wrath.

The Mexican army attacked them. The main cause of the war was the westward expansion of the United States. All through the 19th century Americans believed it was their right to expand westward. At the time they believed they could conquer the people already living on the land and take it for the United States.
