- Japan conquering large amounts of land from China, as well as large amounts of islands in the Pacific

- Japanese imperialism and rule of conquered lands, which they forced the people (natives) living there to force labor.

- continue Japanese expansion made them attack Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, resulting in the US entry of world war II
