Was the annexation of Hawaii justified
Lorico [155]

The answer to this really depends on what prism you are viewing it from?

As a globe, we are pretty opposed to imperialism these days. China has started to dabble a little more in the South China Sea but we mostly have our nation states and there isn't really a lot of movement.

That was not the case at the time of annexation.

So, is it ethical to subsume a sovereign nation? No

Was it strategically justifiable at the time? Yes. If the United States had not annexed Hawaii, the Empire of Japan likely would have stepped in.

Hawaii has enormous strategic value and was then justifiable at the time of annexation.

That being said, and I hope this is an obvious statement, imperialism is not a good thing and is ethically problematic.

How did this treaty contribute to the end of the Cold War? *
tatyana61 [14]

Answer:

During 1989 and 1990, the Berlin Wall came down, borders opened, and free elections ousted Communist regimes everywhere in eastern Europe. In late 1991 the Soviet Union itself dissolved into its component republics. With stunning speed, the Iron Curtain was lifted and the Cold War came to an end.

The sum of a number and its square is 42which equation can be used to find the two numbers for which this is true
Paul [167]
Hi there!

We know that the numbers must add up to 42. Let's use n to represent the missing numbers. First, we have one n. This is because it says a number, which we are starting with. Next, we have n^2. This is because it says the number's square, meaning that they are the same variable. Therefore, the equation is n + n^2 = 42.

Hope this helps!! :)
