Why glucose is converted into startch in plants? I know that glucose is soluble and starch is insoluble and because of this, con

verting glucose into starch make sure that the cell doesn't swell up due to water. But my question is why the cell might swell up if glucose isn't converted into starch? Thanks in advance.

Answer: <em>Glucose is able to dissolve in water. If glucose dissolves in water, this increases the amount of water inside the plant cell which most likely makes the cell to swell up ( hypotonic solution). The other reason why glucose is converted to starch is because glucose gets readily used whereas starch cannot be readily used and can be kept for future uses(storage)</em>
