There were a number of points which critics used to prove that the United States was working on establishing a new global empire:
1. The United States attacked Afghanistan even though the attackers of 9/11 were Egyptians and Saudis
2. An almost subsequent war in Iraq, which again, had nothing to do with 9/11
3. The fact that the United States has been in constant war since 9/11 with 240,000 personnel in active duty/reserve in 172 countries.
4. The US maintains 800 military bases around the world
5. America's continuous issues with Russia, Syria, Iran, North Korea
6. An ever expanding military budget
