I believe this an example of complex sentence structure.

My reasoning is that most of these sentences are in fact compound complex sentences-

Compound-complex sentences contain two independent clauses and at least one dependent clause.

An example of a complex sentence is this: “I burned dinner but not the cake.”

Answer: In the passage, the characteristic of sentence structure that is most evident is complex sentence structure.

Explanation: <u>The passage provided includes many complex sentences</u>. A complex sentence is a sentence made up of an independent clause and one or more dependent clauses. While an independent clause can stand alone as a sentence, a dependent clause cannot stand by itself. Moreover, there are three types of dependent clauses: noun clauses, adverb clauses and adjective clauses. In that way, <u>in the passage provided, there are independent clauses, such as "we take the bus", and dependent clauses, such as "which is usually an express bus" </u>(adjective clause), <u>"because the bus is almost always late" </u>(adverb clause) and<u> "that we will have to wait a long while for it" </u>(noun clause).
