people who lived there by making them servants in their own homes. Some European countries still exert influence

I don’t think there is anyone or anything specific that determines our worldview. People who we have met throughout life can have an influence on us. Events and situations that we’ve been through and experienced can shape our reality and define how we perceive and view the world/everything around us.
