Answer:

Question 8 is true .

Question 9, the correct answer is c, when basalt lava flows cover very large areas of continental crust.

QUESTION 10, the right option is d high viscosity, high gas content.

Explanation:

The viscosity of magma depends on its temperature, composition and gas content. Thus, magma with high levels of Sio2, silicon dioxide or silica increases the resistance flow as it increases lava viscosity, due to greater degrees of “internal friction”. Whereas basalt magma has a low-silica composition and flow fairly easily.

The Earth’s surface is transformed by high volume eruptions made of basaltic lava. Convection currents in the mantle find their way to the surface in randomly generated hot spots covering vast areas of lands. The geothermal conditions of these provinces affect their geography.

The volcanic explosiveness relies on the amount of gas and the degree of viscosity of magma. That is to say that high levels of gas mixed together with high viscosity rate result in highly explosive bursts. The eruptive force correlates to the internal pressure and the expansion of gas due to the friction caused by the resistance to flow.

- Identify which 2 positions the Earth is in during an equinox.
iogann1982 [59]

Answer:

The Equinox (Vernal & Autumnal)

There are only two times of the year when the Earth's axis is tilted neither toward nor away from the sun, resulting in a "nearly" equal amount of daylight and darkness at all latitudes. These events are referred to as Equinoxes.

How do we know that the centre of the earth is hot as we have never been down to the core?
lozanna [386]

The Earth has a crust, mantle, outer core and the inner core with each one getting hotter than the next. How come, over millions and millions of years, the heat that is at the center of the Earth hasn't conducted throughout the planet's material so that the entire planet is one even temperature?

This always bothered me because we all learn that temperature diffuses from high areas to low areas, yet the Earth's center is super hot while if you dig a one foot hole, the ground feels quite cold.
