Answer:

The answer to the question: What techniques did early poets use to make poems easier to remember, would be: Rhyme, Rythm and Meter.

Explanation:

Because poetry, unlike prose, requires the mind of a reader to exert extra efforts to catch meaning and see the beauty of a poetic work, poets, especially in earlier times, tended to use techniques that converted poetry into a musical experience. Such devices, which helped a poem become almost musical, and emulate the rythms of the human body and mind, were rythm, rhyme and meter. Rythm is the establishment of a repetitive pattern, which allows the mind to connect with the flow of constant sounds which help it to recite and remember, a poem. The second is rhyme, which is almost like the muscial melody of a poem, with the repetition of the final sounds of words at the end of each sentence, or stanza. Rhyme also, because of its almost melodic sound, helps memory retain information better. Finally, meter combines with rhyme to add that muscial quality to poetry an ensures further retention of information.
