Answer:

\text{Length of AB is }\frac{ah}{a+h}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given △KMN, ABCD is a square where KN=a, MP⊥KN, MP=h.

we have to find the length of AB.

Let the side of square i.e AB is x units.

As ADCB is a square ⇒ ∠CDN=90°⇒∠CDP=90°

⇒ CP||MP||AB

In ΔMNP and ΔCND

∠NCD=∠NMP     (∵ corresponding angles)

∠NDC=∠NPM     (∵ corresponding angles)

By AA similarity rule,  ΔMNP~ΔCND

Also, ΔKAP~ΔKPM by similarity rule as above.

Hence, corresponding sides are in proportion

\frac{ND}{NP}=\frac{CD}{MP} \thinspace\thinspace and\thinspace\thinspace \frac{KA}{KP}=\frac{AB}{PM} \\\\\frac{ND}{NP}=\frac{x}{h} \thinspace\thinspace and\thinspace\thinspace \frac{KA}{KP}=\frac{x}{h}\\\\\frac{NP}{ND}=\frac{h}{x} \thinspace\thinspace and\thinspace\thinspace \frac{KP}{KA}=\frac{h}{x}\\\\\frac{PD}{ND}=\frac{h}{x}-1 \thinspace\thinspace and\thinspace\thinspace \frac{AP}{KA}=\frac{h}{x}-1\\

KA(\frac{h}{x}-1)=AP

ND(\frac{h}{x}-1)=PD

Adding above two, we get

(KA+ND)(\frac{h}{x}-1)=(AP+PD)

⇒ (KN-AD)=\frac{x}{(\frac{h}{x}-1)}

⇒ a-x=\frac{x}{(\frac{h}{x}-1)}

⇒ a-x=\frac{x^2}{h-x}

⇒ x^2=ah-ax-xh+x^2

⇒ x(h+a)=ah

⇒ x=\frac{ah}{a+h}

darcy,Jason n maria share $268. Jason has $20 more than darcy n maria has twice as much money as Jason. how much money do darcy
jok3333 [9.3K]
X is how much Darcy has because she has the least. (x+20) is how much Jason has and 2(x+20) is how much Maria has.
x+(x+20)+2(x+20)=268
4x+60=268
4x=208
x= $52

Darcy has $52
Jason has $72
Maria has $144

5 cm 33 cm 9 cm The total surface area of the cube is equal to the total surface area of the cuboid. Work out the volume of the
Solnce55 [7]

Answer:

2197 cm³

Step-by-step explanation:

To start with, I'd just the formulas needed

Total Surface Area of a cuboid, A =

A = 2lw + 2lh + 2hw, where,

l = length of the cuboid, 33 cm

h = bright of the cuboid, 9 cm

w = width of the cuboid, 5 cm

A = 2(33 * 5) + 2(33 *9) + 2(9 * 5)

A = 2(165) + 2(297) + 2(45)

A = 330 + 594 + 90

A = 1014 cm²

If the total surface area of the cuboid is 1014 cm², which were told is also the total surface are of the cube.

Total surface area of a cube =

A = 6a², where

a = the side of the cuve

A = 6a² = 1014 cm²

6a² = 1014

a² = 1014 / 6

a² = 169

a = √169

a = 13

The formula for volume of cube is

v = a³

V = 13³

V = 2197 cm³
