it's from Khan Academy and there are answer choices it's called interpet negative number addition and subtraction expression
kolbaska11 [484]

Answer: Hi!

Answers B and D are correct.

For B, since negative numbers are on the left side of the number line, a positive number would have to be to the right of a negative number. Since we are adding a negative and a positive number of the same absolute value (9), they would cancel out to 0, which makes D true.

Hope this helps!

(1+x^2)dy/dx+2xy-4x^2=0 bu using Bernoulli's Equation
erastovalidia [21]
Not of Bernoulli type, but still linear.

(1+x^2)\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}+2xy=4x^2

There's no need to find an integrating factor, since the left hand side already represents a derivative:

\dfrac{\mathrm d}{\mathrm dx}[(1+x^2)y]=(1+x^2)\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}+2xy

So, you have

\dfrac{\mathrm d}{\mathrm dx}[(1+x^2)y]=4x^2

and integrating both sides with respect to x yields

(1+x^2)y=\displaystyle\int4x^2\,\mathrm dx
(1+x^2)y=\dfrac43x^3+C
y=\dfrac{4x^3}{3(1+x^2)}+\dfrac C{1+x^2}

What is the slope of the line that passes through the points (48, 10) and (-36, 17)?
schepotkina [342]

Answer:

y = m x + b      equation of a straight line

m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)     slope of line

m = (17 - 10) / (-36 - 48) = 7 / -84 = -1 / 12

y = -x / 12 + b     equation of line

Or b = y + x / 12

If y =  10 and x = 48 then    b = 10 + 48 / 4 = 14

if  y = 17 and x = -36 then b = 17 - 36 / 12 = 14

So b = 14 and   y = -x / 12 + 14
