Ok so first find the area on the triangle where is gives the length and width and the formula for the area of a triangle is Length x widthsx 0.5 so 5.2x8x0.5=20.8 square inches . Then to find the area of the other triangle you have to use Pythagorean’s theorem to find the length because we know the hypotenuse is 6.8 and the width is the same as the other side so width is 5.2 the we will do a^2=c^2-b^2 so a^2=6.8^2-5.2^2 a^2=46.24-27.04 a^2= 19.2 and the square root of 19.2= 4.38 so find the area of that triangle 5.2x4.38x0.5=11.4 square inches then add the two areas together to get 32.2 square inches

Factor this expression completely, then place the factors in the proper location on the grid.
andreev551 [17]

Notice that you have a difference of cubes:

\dfrac{x^3}8-\dfrac{y^3}{27}=\left(\dfrac x2\right)^3-\left(\dfrac y3\right)^3

which can be factored using the rule,

a^3-b^3=(a-b)(a^2+ab+b^2)

So,

\dfrac{x^3}8-\dfrac{y^3}{27}=\left(\dfrac x2-\dfrac y3\right)\left(\dfrac{x^2}4+\dfrac{xy}6+\dfrac{y^2}9\right)

and just to make things look nicer, we can pull out 1/6 from the first factor and 1/36 from the second to get

\dfrac{x^3}8-\dfrac{y^3}{27}=\dfrac1{216}(3x-2y)(9x^2+6xy+4y^2)
