country special. Food, clothing, art, language, music, and hobbies are parts of a culture. For example, American culture includes apple pie, rock and roll music, and baseball. Many other cultures have shaped American culture. The first people that came to live in America were from England. They were called colonists. They spoke English, which is the official language of the U.S. today. The colonists also brought many English customs with them. Native Americans were already living on the land at this time. Some of the Native Americans shared their culture with the colonists. The Native Americans taught the colonists how to grow food such as corn. Throughout American history, people from other countries have come to live in the U.S. They have brought their cultures with them. Today, Americans eat burritos, which are from Mexico. Americans also eat lasagna, which is an Italian dish, and fried rice, which is a Chinese dish. In addition, Americans use many Spanish words such as rodeo and corral. The foods, languages, art, music, and customs from many other countries have helped Americans develop their own culture.
