Tom is afraid of heights above 9 feet. He is asked to repair a side of a high deck. The bottom of a ladder must be placed 6 feet

from a deck. The ladder is 10 feet long. How far above the ground does the ladder touch the deck? Is tom afraid of the height

Use pathagoream theorem. You get the equation: 10^2=6^2+x^2 then solve and simplify to get x=8 So no Tom is not afraid of the heights

The ladder touches the deck at 8 feet high..
a = 6 ft ; b = unknown ; c = 10 ft

6² + b² = 10²
b² = 10² - 6²
b² = 100 - 36
b² = 64
b = √64
<span>b = 8 feet.</span>
