Feudalism started in Northern Europe and spread throughout the continent, but was strongest in England.  

Feudalism refers to the the system of government William I introduced to England following his victory over Harold at the Battle of Hastings. Feudalism became a way of life in Medieval England which protracted for many centuries. It consisted on a state of human society formally structured and stratified on the basis of land tenure.
