The first fight ever held in the Madison Square Garden ring was lost by Jack Delaney. The fight was held on December 11, 1925, and Delaney was fighting against Paul Berlenbach. He was the defending champion. Although Delaney lost the fight, he won a rematch and regained the title the following year.
