The first factor is is that if you're capable of conducting governmental investigation then you would join the Standing Committee. It is a type of a permanent committee that exists for the purpose of dealing with any of the problems that need constant consideration. There are 16 such committees in the United States
The second factor is based on your capabilities to study a particular governmental issue which is when you join the Select Committee. A select committee is formed when a new problem arises and these committees solve these problems and then stop existing. Their purpose is to examine a certain issue and investigate it.
The third is for those that have a connection between houses and can conduct business with them which is when they would join a Joint committee. Joint committees are formed from members of both houses of the congress and they commonly have very narrow jurisdiction and do not report legislation to the congress.
The fourth is for those who have connection between the house and the senate who then join a Conference Committee. Conference committees deal with solving issues regarding legislation. If the two houses of congress can't agree on legislation, a conference committee is formed to help them resolve the issue.
Jefferson and Madison would create the Democratic-Republican political party to be a voice for the common man against the elite Federalist party. The two men fought laws and policies enacted by Washington and Adams when they believed they violated the Constitution and the rights established by the Bill of Rights.
One example of this was Jefferson's writing of the Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions in regard to the Whiskey Tax. Though written anonymously, he suggest the states (the people) were allowed to nullify, or ignore, federal laws that the people did not agree with. He suggest it was in the rights of the people to refuse to pay the whiskey tax.
Jefferson and Madison were both outspoken about their disagreement with the passage of the Alien and Sedition Acts by John Adams. Jefferson would overturn the acts after becoming the third president of the US. Madison also stood against John Adams in regard to the "midnight-appointments" which was an expansion of the federal court system. Madison refused to issue the confirmations of the judges causing one to take Madison to court in the famous case, Marbury v. Madison.

The British began to colonize parts of Africa.
Explanation:
After the adventures of Livingston and Stanley in Africa, their adventures were printed out and made available to the general public. Lot of things that these two explorers discovered seemed very appealing for both the government and the people. Being at the peak of its power and wanting to keep that status, the British Empire started to make plans to colonize Africa.
Lot of things made Africa good region for colonization, such as the people being primitive, being significantly less developed, having abundance of resources, and opening up new market. Being technologically superior, the British were able to overcome the problems and conquer huge part of Africa, having colonies in all regions of the continent, except for Central Africa.
Some of the territories (modern day countries) that were conquered were:
- South Africa
- Zimbabwe
- Zambia
- Nigeria
- Ghana
