elena-14-01-66 [18.8K]
Sample Response: Poe uses images that appeal to the senses of sound, sight, and touch. At first, these images create a gloomy, mysterious, and tense mood. Then, the mood becomes haunting. Why is English such a difficult subject?
Gala2k [10]
This, on the other hand, is a big, interesting book. Native English-speakers intuitively know what order to put words in, but this is hard to teach to those learning the language. The difference between the right and wrong order is so subtle that it's hard to explain beyond simply saying that it “just sounds right” I find it simple but we all have our own opinions..

xz_007 [3.2K]

D. indirect characterization

Indirect characterization is when the author reveals the traits of a character by the way the character speaks, thinks, effects others, acts, and looks. In this excerpt the character's traits are shown through his generosity to the drivers. He gives them each a pack of cigarettes and informs them about what is planned. Direct characterization is when the author specifically tells the reader the character's traits.
