The answer is 8
First you add 13 to both sides, this gives you 2g=16. After that you divide both by two, when dividing 2 and 2g, the 2 cancels itself, and 16 divided by 2 is eight, this would equal to g=8

A calendar watch loses one second per day. At this rate, the approximate length of time, in years, for the watch to lose exactly
const2013 [10]

Using proportions, the approximate length of time, in years, for the watch to lose exactly 24 hours is:

(d) 240.

What is a proportion?

A proportion is a fraction of a total amount, and the measures are related using a rule of three. Due to this, relations between variables, either direct or inverse proportional, can be built to find the desired measures in the problem.

24 hours have 24 x 3600 = 86400 seconds, hence the rule of three is given by:

One second - 1/365 year

86400 seconds - x years

Applying cross multiplication:

x = 86400/365

x = 240.

Hence option D is correct.
