Mexico is a country that is located on a geologically very active place, and it has lot of active and extinct volcanoes all over its territory.

Explanation:

Mexico is country located on a geologically very active place. The North American plate, Cocos plate, Pacific plate, and Caribbean plate all have boundaries there, which in turn results in volcanic activity, as well as the occurrence of lot of earthquakes. Since this has been going on for millions of years, lot of the older volcanoes are now extinct, but because the activity has continued, new ones have occurred which are still active.

Extinct volcanoes are:

  • Los Atlixcos
  • Sierra Chichinautzin
  • Coronado

Active volcanoes are:

  • Colima
  • Popocatepetl
  • El Chichon

The volcanoes that are extinct still are easily visible in their surroundings, as they have very strong base of igneous rocks, so they take lot of time to get eroded. The ones that are active. stick out in their surroundings as they are pretty high. They have different types of eruptions, and while some are not very dangerous, some manage to cause huge damage because of their powerful and dangerous eruptions.

Astronomers discovered stars even cooler than the traditional spectral type M stars recently. Astronomers have these cool stars
svlad2 [7]

Answer:

A sensitive infra-red telescope

Explanation:

Infrared light is highly advantageous for astronomers as it helps in discovering and studying the astronomical objects that are observed in the night sky.

This infrared light is commonly used in the telescopes to study the distant stars, and by analyzing them, they are classified as different types like L or M types. These telescopes, by using the infrared light, it is able to detect the presence of stars and other astronomical bodies, and this type of telescopes helps in determining the temperature of the distant objects such as the stars, planets, and other objects.

Which statement best compares the movement of P waves and S waves?
ikadub [295]

Answer:

C.  P waves move matter back and forth, in a direction parallel to the direction of the wave, while S waves move matter up and down, perpendicular to the direction of the wave.

Explanation:

P and S - waves are both called seismic waves. They are produced during deformation within the earth.

Usually, P or Primary waves have the fastest velocity and arrives at the seismic station first. Secondary, Shear or S-waves follows P-waves.

  • P-waves are body waves that propagates within a body. They cause movement internally.
  • Secondary waves are surface waves. They move on the surface of earth.
  • One way to also distinguish between these two seismic waves is that, P-waves are longitudinal waves that travels parallel or longitudinally to the source.
  • Secondary waves moves in an up and down motion pattern. They propagate transversely to their source.
