Early American literature in general and novel in particular, was inclined towards the portrayal of reality or the exact conditions and sufferings faced by people to the audience. This was due to several factors like religious, cultural, socio-economic, etc. The emphasis was on the social-fluidity and individual self-affirmation. It was an escape from the earlier epic forms focusing on a realistic perspective as<em> it displayed the daily life of people and the social, psychological and economic struggles faced by them. This makes us conclude that it dealt with emotional domestic situations in order to present the struggles of daily life and give it a realistic touch which was a breakthrough from the previous genres of writing.</em>
