I create distractions from that thing, or I can make it impossible for me to do that thing. For instance, if I have to finish a homework assignment due in the morning but I also want to play Subway surfers on my phone (the tempting thing), I turn off my phone and put it in the other room. Or, I can think of all the wonderful things that I <em>can </em>do without having to wish for it and convince myself that those wonderful things are way better than playing Subway Surfers.
