In "To Build a Fire," what temperature was it outside?

English
1 answer:
Ainat [17]3 years ago
7 0

Answer:

O- 50 Degrees Fahrenheit .

Explanation:

The story "To Build  a Fire" by Jack London revolves around the story of how an unnamed protagonist and his dog set out to get to another camp where his friends had stayed in the cold, freezing Yukon territory. He had been warned by an older man about the danger of setting out in that temperature, an advice which he did not take into account.

At the beginning of the story, the narrator mentions that the temperature was "<em>Fifty degrees below zero meant 80 degrees of frost</em>. " But this does not seem to affect the man's wish of going on his planned journey through the Yukon territory. The narrator states that "<em>Such facts told him that it was cold and uncomfortable, and that was  all. [but] It did not lead him to consider his weaknesses as a creature affected  by temperature.</em>" By the end of the story, we find that only the dog made to the camp while the man had frozen to death.

Amiraneli [1.4K]

This question is incomplete. Here's the complete question.

Read To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee

Atticus explains to Scout that the town authorities

bend the law for the Ewell family because they'll

never change their ways; for instance, Mr. Ewell

can...

shoot firearms within the town limits.

burn trash in his back yard.

hunt out of season.

fish without a license.

Answer: hunt out of season.

Explanation:

Atticus explains that the town has lost any hope in the Ewell family following the rules. Bob Ewell is allowed to hunt out of season, and his kids are allowed to skip school.

Despite the Ewell family being described as constantly ignoring the rules throughout the book, Bob´s hunting is depicted as justified because it´s the only way he can feed his family.
